The course

El risc geològic és un problema que la nostra societat cada cop mes globalitzada i més depenent de la tecnologia ha d’afrontar seriosament per tal de poder disminuir al màxim els seus efectes, anticipant-se a la seva ocurrència i aplicant les mesures preventives que siguin necessàries per tal de reduir les possibles pèrdues econòmiques i humanes en cas d’impacte. Per aquesta raó, la recerca sobre el processos naturals catastròfics com terratrèmols, volcans o esllavissades, és uns dels camps prioritaris de les ciències de la terra, el que comporta que el seu desenvolupament avanci a gran velocitat i que calgui actualitzar-se en el coneixement sobre aquest tema de manera constant.

Programa

Tema 1. Fenòmens físics que controlen els riscos geològics i climàtics. Dinàmica terrestre i atmosfèrica. Riscos geològics interns (volcans i terratrèmols). Riscos geològics externs (esllavissades). Riscos meteorològics i climàtics (inundacions, canvi climàtic). Concepte de multirisc.

Tema 2. Modelització experimental i matemàtica sobre riscos geològics i associats.

Tema 3. Adquisició i gestió de dades. Monitorització i vigilància de processos naturals. Sistemes de monitorització en terra i remots. Tractament i magatzematge de dades. Incertesa epistèmica i aleatòria.

Tema 4. Avaluació de la perillositat i gestió del risc a curt i llarg termini. La gestió d’una crisi.

Tema 5. Comunicació del risc. Programes d’educació. Comunicació entre científics i població i gestors i medis de comunicació.
