Predoctoral position in geothermal energy

GEO3BCN-CSIC is seeking candidates for a predoctoral PhD position in geothermal energy within the framework of the Generalitat de Catalunya’s predoctoral fellowship program. This program funds the recruitment of predoctoral researchers to develop a doctoral thesis in areas aligned with the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP).

Project Description

The PhD project will focus on geothermal energy, combining:

  • Laboratory work (petrophysical analysis).
  • Fieldwork (surface heat flow measurements, rock sampling, etc.).
  • Thermo-hydraulic numerical simulations.
  • 3D modelling of geothermal potential.

The PhD student will be based at Geociencias Barcelona (GEO3BCN-CSIC) and will collaborate with the Facultat de Ciències de la Terra at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

Eligibility & Application

  • Candidates must be nationals of an EU member state.
  • The contracts have a maximum duration of three years.
  • The fellowship may be co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus (2021-2027).
