The Institut Teknologi Sumatera university in Indonesia has named Juan Alcalde and Ramon Carbonell, researchers at Geociencias Barcelona (GEO3BCN-CSIC), as honorary professors. The title is awarded in recognition for their scientific trajectory and international reputation of their research.

This recognition encourages Carbonell and Alcalde to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange between both institutions, as well as strengthen research collaborations in the area of Earth Sciences. The Institut Teknologi Sumatera has over 17,000 students, 454 professors, and 40 departments dedicated to science, technology, and industry.

“This appointment is a very important milestone in our scientific trajectory, and a true honour for us. It is also of great importance to forge collaboration links with this institution in terms of teaching and research,” the researchers said.

Both researchers supervised the Dr. Handoyo’s thesis. He is currently a researcher of the Idonesian center. His work, defended last February, was entitled ‘Shear Waves Characterization Of The Subsurface: Imaging Active Fault And Critical Zone Along The Eastern Betic Shear Zone (EBSZ), SE Iberian Peninsula’.

GEO3BCN-CSIC reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy in order to adapt it to the latest legislations, jurisprudences or interpretations made by the Spanish Data Protection Agency.  In this case, the CSIC will announce such changes, clearly indicating in advance the modifications made, and requesting, if considered necessary, their acceptance.
