Communications & Outreach Unit was established in 2015 as an effort to promote, improve and monitor GEO3BCN image.
The Unit is responsible for managing the content of the institutional website and social media sites, creating also multimedia content. We also facilitate the flow of information about institutional and research activities internally and externally via several channels. Communication & Outreach Unit works closely with members of the Institute to place stories in print and electronic media managing a wide media contacts database, responds to media information requests and helps journalists to find GEO3BCN-CSIC sources for expert commentary, arranging media interviews.

The Communications & Outreach Unit manages the GEO3BCN institutional Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts posting content to institutional social media channels. The Communications Unit produces on institutional publications such as the Annual Report and promotional materials for the Institute, its researchers and projects. The Unit coordinates some of the outreach and dissemination activities carried out by our researchers in the frame of several outreach events like Science Week or ESCOLAB. One of the goals of the Communications Unit is to contribute to the understanding of the Geosciences value and its benefit to society and general public, helping to build bridges between science and society.

Since 2023 and for the first time, GEO3BCN-CSIC has been accredited as a Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+i) by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT, for its initials in Spanish), and will form part of the Spanish UCC+i Network.
