Abstract
New technological advances allow us to study turbidity currents occurring on the ocean floor in unprecedented detail. Over the last ten year we have collected some of the first high-resolution measurements of turbidity currents in a series of ocean-floor channels and canyons. These measurements are showing that many of our existing models of turbidity currents are incomplete or even incorrect. Here I will provide an overview of our findings and their implications for our understanding of turbidity currents and their deposits.
