Information
During the last decades, the enhancement or development of additional and complementary techniques and proxies besides palynology to the palaeoecological research has helped to improve the accuracy of the interpretations obtained. For instance, the analysis of phytoliths and non-pollen palynomorphs (NPPs) has been crucial in environments where palynomorphs are rare or not well-preserved, as is it the case of archaeological sites. Moreover, the increased in the number of proxies used, has allowed to increment the number of inferred environmental drivers involved in the long-term dynamics of a given ecological community, which results essential in study areas where autoecological information is limited. This informal international meeting is aimed at people who work with different subfossil remains in sedimentary archives from lakes, wetland sediments, brackish and marine water bodies, outcrops and archaeological sites.
