The main objective of this service is to provide researchers at GEO3BCN with the necessary communication and computing tools, as well as basic and advanced services, to help them achieve their scientific goals.
The unit manages a network infrastructure consisting of approximately 150 medium-sized computers, a building-wide Wi-Fi network, and several server-oriented computing and storage systems. It also ensures connectivity with the Scientific Ring (Anella Científica), RedIRIS, and GÉANT2.
Additionally, GEO3BCN facilitates network access to the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) and provides access to the Scientific Ring. The institute also collaborates with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, leveraging the IBM MareNostrum Supercomputer for high-performance computing tasks.
